In Buddhist philosophy of Yogācāra, ear consciousness is one of the eight consciousnesses and plays a crucial role in how humans perceive and understand the external world.
Ear consciousness refers to the ability to perceive and recognize sounds through the ears. This ability allows us to discern various auditory stimuli, such as speech, music, and environmental sounds.
According to the Yogācāra school, ear consciousness, like other forms of consciousness, is not merely a passive reception of external auditory information but a manifestation of the mind. All perceptions and recognitions are interconnected with the functions of the mind.
